It was back to La Zona Rosa Wednesday night for another show on the best sound stage in Austin (for me at least). This time I checked out Neon Trees and their rocking and a rolling. Yes, for the Summer Concert Series, I have yet to catch a good ole fashioned rock and roll band. That changed Wednesday (and was about to improve the next day).

Blind Pilot Hit My Blind Spot
Man it’s been since forever that I’ve graced the annals of La Zona Rosa. Welp I was there Friday night to check out Blind Pilot. Blind Pilot’s the kind of band for me that cleanses the palate. Although, for some reason, most of their music never comes to my inner jukebox. After the last couple of shows, I needed this refreshing change of pace. The opening guys fared well, too, with DZ Deathrays giving me the most follow up interest for after the show. No rain this time at the Mohawk but it didn’t matter because I was indoors. The Men Show Us Why They Are
Saturday night was quite the night for some quick rain of hardcore. Yes, it was back at the Red 7 and back for some flashes of punishmen. Some good, some bad, and some downright insane. After the smoke cleared The Men came out on top. Fortunately for me (and unfortunately) there was plenty of time between the sets.
ZZ Top Drove Through Whitewater
Saturday night was the hottest day in Texas so far for me and I’d like to think that ZZ Top at Whitewater Ampitheater had a hand in it. My Summer concert series started out with great success and it was time to follow up the beats with some classic rocking sauce. Billy Gibbons and company did not disappoint. Sure we may have been behind a bit, but the show I saw was a full one and still left me thirsty for more. Dang heat. Continue reading ZZ Top Drove Through Whitewater
